North Ridgeville, OH In-home Mural

This mural is quite different from my previous mural work (and more significant) as it was a gift from me to my parents, who made the move to sell their home of 50 years (holy jubilee!) in January of 2019. They then went ahead and had a new modern home built! It is their dream home.

Neither one of them ever thought they would leave their previous house, but one day, that all changed. They had the crazy idea to build a new modern home all for themselves… and they decided to go for it (say what)!

I am so inspired by them, proud of them and beyond happy for them. Even in their older years, they are living life to the fullest, embracing new things, and making the most of every day. I couldn't be happier for them, and this (small) gift to them by no means compares to everything they have done for me, and how they have always loved and supported me, but I hope it brings them some joy for years to come. It is a small token of appreciation for the love and encouragement they have given me over the years. I am so very thankful to God for giving me such dear parents. I am able to make a living doing what I love because of them.

Fun fact about this mural - the inspiration and color palette came from a painting of the ocean that is hanging on an adjacent wall. The super sweet, super sappy thing about it is that my dad is the artist behind the painting (see photo in the collection). I truly get my talent from him, and I loved being able to pull from his work to create the mural.

Details: Painted in 20 hours over the course of 2.25 days. I had zero helpers on this one. And, as per usual, nothing was measured out, no masking tape was used (outside of protecting edges of the wall, windows and outlets), I painted it all freehand!

Tools used: Blue painter's tape, artist's paintbrushes, painter's paintbrushes, Behr interior house paint (flat)
